Roding Valley Meadows Local Nature Reserve
One of the most important sites in Essex for nature conservation. The reserve is one of the last remaining, traditionally managed floodplains. Although a grassland reserve there are many old hedgerows containing old trees.

Chigwell Row Wood Local Nature Reserve, Chigwell
A fragment of nearby Hainault Forest at this reserve you can see hundreds of veteran oak and hornbeam pollards.

Roughtalleys Wood Local Nature Reserve, North Weald
This nature reserve has areas of both ancient
and secondary woodland. There are many old trees especially hornbeam coppice stools. An accessible pathway runs around the wood.


Linders Field Local Nature Reserve
This reserve has a wonderful area of ancient woodland, grassland and small ponds. It is a haven for wildlife and with unrestricted public access.

Chigwell Row Wood Local Nature Reserve - Fungal Foray
In late September 2006, local fungi expert Peter Comber led a group around the nature reserve looking at the world of fungi.
