Reason for nomination:

  • "Going down Traps Hill, Loughton looking over to the cricket field comes into view a magnificent golden weeping willow adorning the rather mundane High Road. What a wonderful sight, with catkins in bloom on a spring day” Hubert Laverton.

Remarks & Tree condition:

  • The weeping Willow is a hybrid of the native White Willow and probably originated in France some 200 years ago. It is a very fast growing and water thirsty tree. This tree situated on the edge of the cricket field near the High Street, Loughton.
