Reason for nomination:

  • Tree is the famous "Pulpit Oak", boundary marker between Buckhurst Hill and Woodford. Between Lords Bushes and Knighton Woods in Epping Forest at the northwest end of Monkhams Lane.

Remarks & Tree condition:

  • Tree is showing signs of its great age with only three stems surviving despite valiant efforts by the Corporation of London to prolong it. It is surrounded by bramble as a protection and has numerous dead branches.
