Reason for nomination:
This "phoenix tree" is a fallen willow. It stands beside a ditch leading from the lake on the northern edge of Redoak Wood within the Epping Forest Deer Sanctuary. Despite having fallen over many years ago it has continued to regrow happliy.
Remarks & Tree condition:
16.5m tall.The 112 acre deer sanctuary was purchased by the City of London in 1959 as fears grew for the safety of the remaining black fallow deer in the Forest. Today, a herd of around a 100 animals exists within the sanctuary.
