Thomas Willingale School GreenArc Project

Marion Smith head teacher at Thomas Willingale primary school has always been an enthusiastic supporter of trees and the environment. Her passion for trees has resulted in many young trees and hedges being planted in the school grounds with the help of Epping Forest Countrycare.

When the opportunity arose to work with GreenArc and photographer John Price, Marion saw the chance that this would give to her pupils to extend their learning experiences.

Fortunately the school is situated close to a disused allotments where the veteran oak tree on the left is to be seen. As well as this several other veteran trees were to be found in parkland close by. Pupils took digital photos and recorded information about their local trees.

The lessons continued with an art project in the classroom, The pictures below were taken by the pupils and show some of the activities.
